Siraj never went to a cricket academy or had the privilege to train under a coach. Smitten by cricket, he used to play street cricket with a tennis ball and often missed his classes for the game. In 2015, on a friend’s invitation, he went to try out in the nets at the Charminar Cricket Club and impressed everyone with his playing ability. He took five wickets in that match which propelled him to go ahead to build up his carrier in cricket. His dedication and devotion to the new passion he picked up soon paid dividends to his hard work as he was named as a probable in the state’s U-23 Side.

In 2015, Siraj played for the senior zonal side and made his first-class debut for Hyderabad on 15 November 2015 in the “Ranji Trophy” but could play only one game. After this one match, he had to wait long for more opportunities.

In the “Ranji Trophy”2016, he played exceedingly well, and also his team Hyderabad made it to the quarter-finals. He ended up being the highest wicket-taker for Hyderabad and third-leading wicket-taker of the 2016 “Ranji Trophy”, taking 41 wickets in nine matches at an impressive average of 18.92.

Siraj stuck in the first over of the test by dismissing the dangerous David Warner. Even though it was his only wicket of the inning but he remained the most economical pacer in the entire innings. Indian Team winning the Brisbane game with 5 wickets in his pocket to seal the win of the four-match series of the tournament started Mohammed Siraj’s life a new chapter.
